JavaScript Beautifier

Restore readable indentation to minified or messy JavaScript without touching a single character of the code itself. Strings, template literals, regular expressions and comments come back byte for byte, and the result is re-tokenised to prove it.

Drop a .js file here or click to browse

Paste JavaScript and press Beautify.

Indentation is restored, tokens are not rewritten: no semicolon is added, no quote is swapped and no comment is moved. Template literals keep their raw text, including the expressions inside ${ }, and a / is only treated as the start of a regular expression when the previous token cannot end an expression. Because the beautifier re-tokenises its own output and compares the two streams, a formatting mistake is reported instead of returned as broken code.

What Is JavaScript Beautifier?

The JavaScript Beautifier tokenizes the source properly before it re-indents anything, which is what lets it survive the awkward parts of real code: template literals with embedded expressions, regular literals containing slashes and character classes, and strings that contain braces. Indentation follows brace depth with extra handling for switch cases, and the result is checked by comparing the token stream before and after, so if anything other than whitespace changed, the tool says so instead of handing back broken code.

Who Uses the JavaScript Beautifier?

Developers debugging a minified bundle, anyone reading code pulled from a CDN, and writers of tutorials that need a compact snippet to be readable line by line.

How to Use the JavaScript Beautifier

  1. Paste the JavaScript or drop a .js file into the input.
  2. Set the indent width and whether your existing line breaks should be kept.
  3. Press Beautify, check the round-trip result, then copy or download the file.

Why Choose Our JavaScript Beautifier?

  • Token stream compared before and after, so semantics are not silently altered
  • Template literals, regex literals and strings are never corrupted
  • Handles switch cases, nested blocks and a minified one-liner alike
